The ever-prolific Sook-Yin Lee has dropped a surprise record, a remix collection of her recent album 72RHR titled, Unlock the Pain. The new album features mixes produced by Joni Void, Olga, Lee Paradise & Lazer Luke, SY Lee, Cadence Weapon, and Moon King. The album label is Hand Drawn Dracula.
Accompanying this album release is a listening/launch party in Toronto, ON at The Little Jerry (418 College St.) on September 10 at 9:00 PM (no cover charge). DJs performing that night include Moon King, plastic__fantastic__ , Robert Steenkamer, and SY Lee.
Lee will also be going on tour this autumn with Dylan Gamble (Hot Garbage) on guitar, Sarah Kilpack on BG’s and performance art, and dancer Ronnie Clarke.
Last year, Lee’s film Paying For It was selected by TIFF as one of Canada’s Top Ten films of the year. The film also won two Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay for Lee, as well as an ACTRA Award for Emily Lê.
