The long-awaited North American debut of Hong Kong auteur Wong Kar-Wai’s TV series, Blossoms Shanghai is slated to begin streaming on the Criterion Channel on Monday, November 24 at 8 p.m. ET.

The 30-episode phenomenon first premiered in China, becoming the most streamed television series in the country, and it is the first TV drama series by legendary director Wong. Based on the award-winning novel Blossoms by Jin Yucheng, Blossoms Shanghai is set in the 1990s and follows the rise of a self-made millionaire named Ah Bao (Hu Ge), nicknamed the Jay Gatsby of Shanghai, during a thrilling period of the metropolitan city’s growth. It marks the first story by Wong set in his birthplace and has links to his internationally acclaimed film In the Mood for Love. The trailer can be found HERE.

The first three episodes will premiere on November 24, with three new episodes dropping every Monday at 8 p.m. ET. The series joins Criterion Channel’s streaming library alongside the rest of the “Directed by Wong Kar Wai” collection, including As Tears Go By, Days of Being Wild, Chungking Express, Fallen Angels, Happy Together, and In the Mood for Love. Beyond exclusive North American streaming rights, Criterion has also acquired streaming rights in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand for Blossoms Shanghai.
